Projects of West Bengal Government ::

 In every country the progress of society depends on the efficiency of Government.Government must keep in mind all the public discomfort and needs ; and focusing on all that they must have to implement the Projects of West Bengal Government necessary projects on right time. It could be said that the West Bengal government has always been careful about this matter. Students , women , Labour community and People who are economically backward in the society all have come under various projects and received helps they need. Some of regarding are discussed :


1. KANYASREE PROJECT :: 

 Kanyashree Prakalpa has been designed to ensure that girls stay in school and delay their marriages till at least age of 18. Kanyashree's strategy is simple, keeping girls away from marriage till exact age and keeping them in the streamline of their education, to do that government facilitates these girls with financial aid. Kanyashree is mainly an initiative taken by the Government of West Bengal to improve the life and the status of the girls by helping economically backward families with cash 25000  so that families do not arrange the marriage of their girl child before eighteen years because of economic problem.

Established  on 8 March 2013 


To ensure an equity focus, the scheme is open only to girls from families whose annual income is Rs. 1,20,000/- or less. Or for girls with special needs, girls who have lost both parents, as well as for girls currently residing in Juvenile Justice homes, this criterion is waived. Although the annual scholarship is payable only when girls reach Class VIII, this, criterion is waived for girls with special needs whose disability is 40% or more. But recently the bar of income is withdrawn by Gov. W.B. now every girl can apply for that scheme.


On June 2017 United Nations honours Kanyashree with the highest public service award.14 August is celebrated as Kanyashree Day to promote the scheme throughout the state. West Bengal is setting up Kanyashree University in Nadia district and Kanyashree colleges across the state so as to empower girls. The Kanyashree university would be only for women.




2. RUPASREE PROJECT::

  Rupashree Prakalpa is a West Bengal state government's initiative that provides a one-time financial grant of Rs. 25,000 for economically stressed families at the time of their adult daughters’ marriage.


Scope of the scheme ::

Rupashree Prakalpa is in effect from 01 April, 2018 and will be applicable for all marriages effected from 01 April, 2018. The scheme is implemented in all districts of West Bengal.


Eligibility Criteria ::

This scheme shall apply to any woman who proposes to be married if her application satisfies the following criteria.


• The applicant has attained the age of 18 years

• She is unmarried on the date of submitting her application.

• The proposed marriage is her first marriage.

• She was born in West Bengal OR she has been a resident of West Bengal for the last 5 years OR her parents are permanent residents of West Bengal.

• Her family income is not greater than Rs. 1.50 lakhs per annum.

• Her prospective groom has attained the age of 21 years.

• She has an active bank account for which she is the sole account-holder. The bank account must be in a bank that has an IFS Code and an MICR code and transacts e-payments though NEFT .


3. SABOOJ SATHI ::
 

Hon’ble Finance Minister if WB,  in his Budget Speech of 2015-2016, announced a scheme for distribution of bicycles to an estimated 40 lakh students studying in classes IX to XII in Government and Government Aided Schools and Madrasahs of the State.

By now, this scheme is well-known as “Sabooj Sathi” as coined by Hon’ble Chief Minister herself and it reflects her desire to see young students empowered to achieve new feats in the future through the bicycles provided under the scheme. She also created the scheme logo which is firmly attached in the basket in front of the bicycle. 

Objective ::
The scheme was conceived with the primary objective of enhancing student access to Secondary Education. The scheme is further expected-

● To increase retention in schools.
●To encourage students to take up higher studies
●To inculcate sense of confidence among the girl students by promoting mobility,
To promote environment-friendly and healthy means of transportation.


The scheme will offer benefit for both boy and girl students irrespective of their caste, religion or locality within the state of West Bengal. This project will be very profitable for all educators, basically the students of the remote rural areas, especially the girls, especially the girls who had to come to school in a distant legend, would be benefited by this project.




4. UTKARSH BANGLA ::

 prominent scheme of WB govt for skill development has won the prestigious World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), that is Utkarsh Bangla.


Utkarsh Bangla scheme was launched by Hon’ble Chief Minister on 16th February, 2016 for the entire Skill Development interventions to provide wage/self-employment linked skills training to the resident of the state of West Bengal. 

Major objectives under the Scheme are

To give vocational training to school drop outs/unemployed youth by providing training ranging from 100 to 1500 Hours free of charge. 


Utkarsh Bangla covers a wide range of industries and sectors such as Agriculture, Apparel, Automotive, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, Beauty and Wellness, Construction, Electronics and Hardware, Gems & Jewellery, IT & ITeS, Leather, Handicrafts, Plumbing, Power, Telecom, Tourism & Hospitality amongst many others. You may know about the different sectors covered under the Utkarsh Bangla Project Mode by exploring the sectors .


Recruitment of candidates will happen  for candidates who have successfully completed the training programmes. In order to facilitate placements, job fairs at the state, district, sub-division and block level may be held. Also there may be permanent placement cell at State and all District levels.

One of the core purposes of Utkarsh Bangla is to aid in poverty alleviation through adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families. Hence, the candidates should be offered regular paying jobs with a minimum salary to sustain livelihood and other basic needs.





5. DIDI KE BOLO ::

 is an initiative started by the All India Trinamool Congress, that provides a platform for the people of West Bengal to directly lodge concerns or complaints to the Trinamool chairperson and state chief minister Mamata Banerjee. As of 13 August 2019,


A 250-members team runs an office for "Didi Ke Bolo" at Rajarhat, Kolkata.Complaints are received from the project's official website also.The entire process is supervised by the chief minister's grievance cell.

According to The New Indian Express, this campaign received good response from the people of West Bengal. As of 13 August 2019 nearly 500,000 grievances were lodged using this platform. In August 2019, a person in Durgapur, West Bengal was beaten up by after he lodged corruption complaint against a local political leader. On 8 August 2019, 20 Bengali families from Karnataka were rescued by complaining in "Didi Ke Bolo". Their houses were surrounded by flood water.

Dilip Ghosh, BJP chief of West Bengal, claimed that the campaign is copied from BJP's Chai Pe Charcha.

6. SWASTHA SATHI SCHEME 2021 ::

The Chief Minister of West Bengal State Mamta Banerjee on Thursday announced a new Swasthya Sathi Health Scheme 2021 so that it can cover the entire population of the West Bengal State. A lot of new schemes are launched by the Chief Minister of the West Bengal State to help the residents improve their livelihood and save them from the catastrophic aftermath of the coronavirus. The new scheme will be applicable from 1st December 2020 as per the announcement of the Chief Minister. She also announced that the entire Cashless Health Scheme was funded by the government of West Bengal State.
It is said that at least 7.5 crore people will be enrolled under the Cashless Health Scheme of the West Bengal State. As per the announcement made by the Chief Minister of the state, each and every family in the West Bengal State will be covered under this Swasthya Sathi scheme. The Chief Minister also further said that the Central Government only gives 60% for Ayushman Bharat Yojana but this Swasthya Sathi Cashless Health Scheme will be covered 100% by the State Government. 

7.  JOY BANGLA PENSION SCHEME ::
  was launched by the state government of West Bengal for the welfare of the scheduled caste and scheduled tribe citizens in its province. This pension scheme announced by the state government aims to divide pensions into two categories for its people such as the Taposali Bandhu Pension Scheme and Jai Johar Pension Scheme for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) respectively. Now pension amount of ₹600 and ₹1000 will be distributed among all pension beneficiaries respectively. The scheme was launched on April 1, 2020. 

WB Joy Bangla Pension Scheme Eligibility Criteria.

To apply for the scheme, the applicant must be a permanent resident of the state of West Bengal.
The applicant who belongs to the BPL category is eligible for the scheme.
Under the Taposali Bandhu and Jai Johar scheme, only SC’s and ST’s are eligible.
Disabled people from reserved classes can also apply for the scheme.
As per the state law, the person must be above 60 years to avail of the pension scheme offered by the Government.
The applicant applying for the J0y Bangla Pension Scheme must not be enrolled in other pension schemes of the Government of West Bengal.

8. SNEHER PAROSH & PROCHESTA ::

The West Bengal Government has launched two schemes to help migrant workers and the workers those who are working in unorganised sector.The scheme - Sneher Porosh is for migrant labourers and " Prochesta"  is for the workers of unorganized sector.
Announcing these schemes, the  Honorable CM of  West Bengal Mamata Banerjee said that  the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown have hit the working class hard.

As per the Prochesta Prokolpo scheme the beneficiary will get 1000/- as an assistance from the WB Govt. The person must be a resident of West bengal and has to belong under the poverty line.

9.KARMA SATHI PROKOLPO:: 

 On the occasion of International Youth Day, the West Bengal government launched ‘Karma Sathi Prakalpa’ scheme under which one lakh unemployed youth would be provided soft loans and subsidies to make them self-reliant.Karma Sathi Prakalpa,  under which at least 3 lakh youths will be benefitted in the next three years.Anyone between the ages of 18 and 50 in the state will get financial assistance from the state government to set up their own company. Soft loans up to a maximum of Rs 2 lakh will be given. 

The online application date has started from 18th Sept. 2020.

10. SAMOBYETHI PROKOLPO ::

West Bengal Govt provide another financial scheme to the poor named Somobyathi for the performance of the rites and rituals and to meet incidental expenses related to cremation/burial, to the nearest family members of the deceased person. It is implemented by the Panchayat and the Department of  Rural Development  in Panchayat areas and Department of Municipal Affairs  in Urban areas.

Benefits ::

 This facility will be provided only to the poor families during the time of funeral. The assistance will be provided to the nearest family member of the deceased person, who will apply with necessary cremation or burial Certificate at the time of cremation/burial.
A one-time assistance for performance of the rites and rituals and to meet incidental expenses related to cremation/burial, to the next of kin / nearest family members of the deceased person, who are in extreme financial necessity to perform such rites and rituals.
This amount will be RS.2,000/- , that will include burial charge, purchase of necessary articles required to perform the rites and rituals at the time of cremation / burial and charges to carry the dead body at the Burial ground, and other incidental expenses.

In any exceptional cases, if the deceased person has left no family members or near relative but the grant is essentially required to meet funeral ,  any member of the immediate neighborhood can apply for it.

11. YUVASREE PROKOLPO ::

 Yuvasree is a financial assistance scheme of the Government of West Bengal for the unemployed youth of West Bengal. ... The motto of Yuvasree is to provide employment assistance to the unemployed youths of West Bengal for increasing their employment ability and skill.

Eligibility Criteria

 Applicant between the age of 18-45 will be eligible for Yuvasree Scheme. Applicant should be enrolled in an employment bank. Applicant should be the resident of West Bengal. Applicant should be unemployed and enrolled as job-seeker.

This scheme was implemented in October, 2013 and is maintained by the Labour Department of West Bengal. The motto of Yuvasree is to provide employment assistance to the unemployed youths of West Bengal for increasing their employment ability and skill.
